Predominantly, this looks a race between VERY RICH MAN and GRACIOUS RYDER. The former might have to do a little work to find the lead with WAH MAY PRINCESS likely to “kick up” on his inside and considering Very Rich Man is rather one-dimensional, that could be a slight concern. Nonetheless, he fought well when second to Champions Way last time and can figure again. Gracious Ryder will get a soft run from a low gate and Zac Purton is sticking with him. In a thin race, he does look the right horse and his overall form this term suggests he is close to a win. The drop in class is significant for ALL BEST FRIENDS who has been remarkably consistent this term and with a touch of luck from a middle draw he shouldn’t be far away. The map is an issue though for De Sousa to overcome. Conversely DOLLAR REWARD maps a bit better but he has had every chance on a couple of occasions, is yet to win in Hong Kong from 24 starts and has been very costly for win–backers. I’m happy that Gracious Ryder is the main outlay here and it’s worth taking a small quinella with Very Rich Man.
