summary

This is a slightly tricky race to bet into with four horses debuting. That said there are a couple of nice looking types including PRINCE OF GEMS. He is an Australian-import who won a trial in convincing fashion back in March at Cranbourne for Henry Dwyer. He displayed decent natural ability when looking good in a recent Happy Valley trial (he has had four trials overall in Hong Kong) and he looks primed to run well. The wide gate isn’t ideal, but he seems to possess gate speed and I think he can offset that disadvantage quickly. E STAR competed in the same Happy Valley trial and closed off nicely for Sylvestre De Sousa, who appears to have opted to ride CRAIG’S STAR in preference. The form of Craig’s Star reads well, considering he finished second to the highly impressive Full Of Beauty who was massive when winning on Thursday. CIRCUIT THREE is another debutant that went okay in a recent trial, but the son of Savabeel might want more ground. LETSGOFREE might provide some value at a price for exotics bettors. Overall I’m happy to outlay on Prince Of Gems, which is more speculative than is normally the case, however I like what I’ve seen of his preparation for today.

This is a slightly tricky map given the four debutants however I’ve seen enough of PRINCE OF GEMS from his trials to say that he could overcome barrier 13 and lead this race. LORIZ and SIMPLY BIG can position close by him, while CRAIG’S STAR and MR CROISSANT shouldn’t be too far away either.
