RACE 10
8 RIGHT CHOICE (rp – $2.50)
WIN (10 units)
13 GALLANT RETURN (rp – $7.00)
WIN (2.5 units)
8 & 13
QUINELLA (1 unit)
RIGHT CHOICE is my best of the day and I have been very impressed with how this horse has run so far. He has upside, is well-drawn and should be able to sprint strongly off the expected genuine speed set. GALLANT RETURN had no favours last start and with Moreira booked can be a factor also at a big price.
Results: 1st @ $2.70 best corporate (+17 units) + 2nd (-2.5 units) + quinella with 8 & 13 @ $9.60 (+8.6 units) -> (+23.1 units)

RACE 2
10 PRINCE OF GEMS (rp – $3.30)
WIN (7 units)
First starter PRINCE OF GEMS has impressed me with how he’s trialled in Hong Kong and before he arrived (Cranbourne, Australia). Even though he’s drawn wide I believe he will have the speed to offset this and there also doesn’t appear to be much pace inside of him. From there it will be up to Purton to rate him according with the horse possessing enough ability to my eye to get the job done and push on to better things.
Result: 1st @ $7.00 -> $6.00 best corporate (after deductions due to Craig’s Star’s scratching) (+35 units)
RACE 6
4 SUPER STAR (rp – $3.75)
WIN (5.5 units)
4 with 7 & 9
QUINELLA (0.5 unit each, 1 unit total)
SUPER STAR didn’t get away cleanly last start and Millard has opted to book De Sousa to ride over Teetan. If he can bounce him into a better position early on than previously the horse is clearly the one to beat. In addition to him, FORTUNATE RUNNER can run well and I expect MURRAY’S PARTNERS to be one of Douglas Whyte’s better chances on his last day of riding.
Results: 1st @ $4.20 best corporate (+17.6 units) + 4th & 11th (-1 unit) -> (+16.6 units)
Overall result for 27 units strategy

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.
Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.
Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.
Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.
So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!
Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.
Cheers
