summary

On paper, this doesn’t look like an overly strong Class 4 event and David Hall’s HIGH REV looks a leading contender from his two career starts. The well-bred son of Fastnet Rock has had a freshen-up and displayed enough ability last year to suggest that he is going to go close to winning with that experience under his belt. That said, there might be a good play here with HAPPY ALUMNI. It was a very stylish debut a few weeks ago when settling in a rearward position and being badly inconvenienced down the home straight on more than one occasion. With some natural improvement, and if Happy Alumni can settle closer (from the same good draw of barrier 3) than last time, then I’m happy enough to go with him. Outside of those two gallopers, there doesn’t seem much depth to this event. REGENCY DARLING has the blinkers removed for this meeting and with the apprentice claim he comes in to calculations. In addition, the wide draw isn’t a major negative, as he should work across to the front quite easily. BRAVE BABY has been swapping between distances, courses and surfaces but is going along okay and can fill a minor slot. I can’t say I’ve seen enough in the trials and work of the first starters BLINK OF A SECOND and STRATHBARRA to get too excited, however they’ll both debut in a race that is ripe for the picking.

speed

The pace here looks like it’ll be moderate with REGENCY DARLING a natural leader. BRAVE BABY is a horse that can sit close to the leader from GUERDON HELMET and potentially debutant STRATHBARRA.
