summary

The debutants in this event are interesting and they wouldn’t have to be anything special to win this race, given the exposed runners competing here looks rather moderate. AUTHENTIC CHAMP had one trial in Australia (Warwick Farm) before being exported as an unnamed galloper to Hong Kong and his three trials leading in to this event will stand him in good stead for his debut. He performed very well down the straight course in a trial where he quickened from back in the field and he clearly has enough ability to win. He arguably looks a little more of the finished product than another debutant, KING’S TROOPER, who to my eye might actually have more ability. He was awkwardly out of the gates and very keen in his turf trial down the straight, but is a very stylish mover and he looks to have “an engine”. At this stage, I prefer Authentic Champ, but in time it might be a different story. Of the exposed runners, LUCKY GUY was okay over 1,200m at his last outing when plugging away and outside of the newcomers – this is an easier test. SUNNY DRAGON is on the quick back-up, which I believe will bode well for his chances. THIS IS CLASS has some upside, along with MERIDIAN GENIUS. Overall this isn’t really a race I will get too involved in. Authentic Champ is worth a small win ticket and if the prices are right then consider King’s Trooper and Sunny Dragon also.

speed

There looks to be GOOD speed here although the map isn’t’ straightforward given the lightly-raced horses and debutants. WINNER SUPREME, NICE FANDANGO and THIS IS CLASS are potential leaders from BULLISH BROTHER and MERIDIAN GENIUS.
