R10 TAI TONG HANDICAP

summary

It doesn’t look as though there will be any major surprises in this one. PERFECT MATCH is progressive and has been impressive winning his last three starts and there is plenty to suggest he can win again. He might have to do a little early work from the gate but there doesn’t look a great deal of mid-race pressure here. It’s this expected speed map that might work against LAKESHORE EAGLE who also looks a really progressive type. He posted some excellent closing sectionals over 1,200m (11.25 fourth-best final-200m of the meeting). The step up in trip will help but considering Whyte drew the middle last time and ended up where he did, who knows where he will be this time. The horse, however, is good enough to win. KING OPIE maps well and if he holds his form he won’t be far away in the finish. GOOD BEAUTY had excuses on his last outing (mucus) and his form prior read like the Sha Tin 1,400m would be ideal. I expect him to bounce back and he looks a really good price all things considered. Given my top-two selections are well-found, I’m happy to bet Good Beauty each way. Hugh Bowman is a positive rider change and he should get every chance to run to his best from the draw.

PERFECT MATCH and KING OPIE can be the pacesetters from GOOD BEAUTY and CIRCUIT HASSLER. There doesn’t look like there’ll be much pressure through out, so siting close to the lead could be advantageous.
