23 units Strategy

best outlay

RACE 8

5 FEARLESS FIRE (rp – $3.70)

WIN (6 units)

FEARLESS FIRE should be very well-suited by the step up in distance to 1650m given his form in the UK before coming to Hong Kong. There should be sufficient speed for him to be able sit midfield and for Purton to bring him with his run when he chooses.

Result: 3rd (-6 units)

NEXT BEST OUTLAYS

RACE 4

5 NABOO STAR (rp – $4.20)

WIN (4.5 units)

7 LONDON MASTER (rp – $10.00)

WIN (1 unit)

NABOO STAR strikes a rather weak race and if he can get away on terms from the barrier and get any sort of economical run from a tricky draw he can finish over the top of them. LONDON MASTER needs the speed to go his way also, but simply looks an over and requires a unit invested on him.

Results: 3rd (-4.5 units) + 1st @ $35.00 best corporate (+34 units) -> (+29.5 units)

RACE 7

10 PLANET STAR (rp – $6.50)

WIN (2.5 units)

5 NAMJONG PLUS (rp – $8.00)

WIN (1.5 units)

PLANET STAR can lead this race and with a cheap sectional or two can surprise his opposition by being hard to catch. He is in good enough form and tempo is key for him. NAMJONG PLUS is another natural back-runner and is capable in this type of field. It’s not one with huge depth.

Results: 11th (-2.5 units) + 1st @ $12.00 best corporate (+16.5 units) -> (+14 units)

best each way

RACE 6

4 MUSIC ADDITION (rp – $4.60)

WIN (2.5 units) PLACE (5 units)

MUSIC ADDITION caught my eye on debut when running second and didn’t have much luck last start. He gets a far better draw to obtain an economical run and that will take him some way to finishing high up in the money.

Result: 1st @ $4.20 & $1.80 best corporate (+8 units)(+4 units) -> (+12 units)

Overall result for 23 units strategy

+49.5 UNITS  (215% PROFIT)

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.

Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.

Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.

Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.

So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!

Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.

Cheers
