This straight race will feature three last start winners over the track and trip and two debutants, including an interesting prospect from Australia called EXPLOSIVE WITNESS. He looked exciting in one race start where he won a 1000m race as a two-year-old at Moonee Valley, Melbourne. Since being in Hong Kong he has been patiently handled, most recently in Conghua, where his trials have been good. I AM POWER beat CALIFORNIA ARCHER and HAPPY VICTORY over this course and distance last start and one would think that Happy Victory given the swing in the weights (5.5 kgs) and the likelihood of improvement to come from that outing could turn the tables. California Archer is fit and racing well and should also be thereabouts and able to beat I Am Power. DIAMOND MASTER is well-exposed and has had a gap (77 days) between runs, but his win was noteworthy, it rated well, and he sustained an excellent final-600m. He can be competitive with a light weight and is another example of Jimmy Ting getting extra out of his stable runners in his rookie year. SPEEDY KING toppled Refined Treasure earlier this season down the straight course and his final-200m was excellent. So there appear to be a number of chances in this event, and you probably need to go a little wider in the quaddie if taking one. As an individual race I’m not sure it is one to overly indulge in.
