He showed with a return to Sha Tin on his last outing that he can be competitive off his current handicap mark but then again, whilst he has been consistent, he has proven quite costly for backers of him to win. New Elegance is drawn to get the right run though given the lack of pressure expected in the race. The form around DANCES WITH DRAGON reads well. He defied some steady fractions to notch his first Hong Kong win last start following a sound run in defeat behind subsequent winner Mr So And So (Taking Aim, Vincy and Home Run have all run well since). Dances With Dragon can win again with the right Whyte steer. TIANCHI MONSTER produced the best figures of runners competing in this race today at his last start on the back of a fast tempo and perfect ride. This race won’t be run the same way (there’s not much pace expected here) and he has 4.5kg more to carry, which is of some concern. In a race that lacks tempo, all-weather specialist TRAVEL FIRST might go out bigger odds than he should. He can lead this race and has run well-enough on the turf to say that he could ‘steal’ a win in front. HAPPY SEBRING races like he should be far more effective up in trip even though his two wins have come over 1400m.
