summary
There’s some interest in the newcomer SPLENDOUR AND GOLD for the third race. This Australian import has had three trials leading in to his Hong Kong debut and was a trial winner at Cranbourne prior to his export. Importantly, he has drawn low (barrier 2) over 1,200m and should be able to take up a handy position from there. He looks a nice prospect and might be a worth a wager on debut as there isn’t much depth at all with the exposed runners. I like the booking of Silvestre De Sousa on MIDNIGHT RATTLER who will be better suited to 1,200m at Sha Tin than the Valley 1000m. His last two runs in the grade have been sound and he is a winning chance although the barrier will mean he has to work early. A better option to Midnight Rattler might be DOR DOR who will be better suited to the step up to 1,200m following a sound debut over 1,000m two weeks ago. By Moreira’s standards, he wasn’t overly hard on him and left plenty in the tank for this race. He makes some appeal. COBY OPPA has displayed speed in his turf trial and he looks a natural runner. Once again, in a race where the older horses look below average, he can run well. Spledour And Gold with Dor Dor look sounds outlays to win here.
