DIAMOND LEGEND and VICTOR EMPEROR are the two main chances in this event. The former was very good over the course and distance when second to M Reborn (race 292) two weeks ago. If he holds that sort of level then he should have the measure of Victor Emperor even though Victor Emperor finished ahead of Diamond Legend, albeit with a far more economical run, when they both beaten behind Hurricane Hunter (race 258). PEACE ON EARTH is generally competing at the city course but his record at Sha Tin is okay and some of his recent efforts rate well-enough for him to figure in a thin contest. There might be some value in this event with RUN MOOCHI. On career start number seven, he takes the drop in to Class 5 for the first time and his effort when ninth of 12 was a lot better than it looks on paper most recently. He actually closed with some solid sectionals (22.99 final-400m) off a slow tempo and he will certainly find this an easier test. In early betting Diamond Legend is very short, so even though he’s on top it’s hard to say he’s a bet. For that reason small specks on Victor Emperor, Peace On Earth and Run Moochi look worthwhile.
