In this event we are going to have another short-priced favourite in the form of COUNTRY STAR and at his price he might be worth taking on. The horse is likely to get a significant amount of pressure from MOMENT OF POWER and TELECOM BROTHERS and while I expect Moreira to ease out of the battle and take a sit, this will ensure a solid tempo through the first two sections. This strong speed ultimately could mean he is vulnerable late, that being said, he is on the back-up and his second to Regency Darling has him rating clear of his rivals. However, if Country Star runs to his prior mark when winning at Happy Valley and just beating Just Not Listening, then most of the field have claims! I think SUPER HOPPY, STORM SIGNAL and to a lesser extent FANTASTIC FEELING all have better claims than their early market prices. Zac Purton is two from two on Super Hoppy, he should get a race run to suit, has won two from three fresh and his best level is clearly good enough. The issue for Storm Signal is that he has only won one from 19 but he was excellent when second behind Styling City last start. The return to Happy Valley and the prospect of receiving a ‘cheap’ rails run here ensures he shouldn’t be far away in the finish and could ‘pick up the pieces’ late – he is consistent. FANTASTIC FEELING is in career best form and is capable. He should sit one-off the rail around midfield and that could be the optimum place to be given how the race is run. So Country star is deserved favourite, but I can find reasons to outlays small units on one of Super Hoppy, Storm Signal and Fantastic Feeling to upset him.
