The January Cup is the Group 3 highlight at the Valley tonight! Whilst it features the clash of some serious talent like TIME WARP (has won two from three at Happy Valley) and EAGLE WAY who both competed in the Hong Kong Cup and Vase respectively, it is a handicap so the lighter weighted rivals get their chance. From that perspective, SIMPLY BRILLIANT very much appeals from a form and betting perspective. He can often race a touch keenly, but with Time Warp likely to be rolling along out in front over-racing shouldn’t occur. Considering Simply Brilliant is receiving 9kg from Time Warp, the son of Frankel should get his opportunity to notch his sixth win. Time Warp is the 1800m track record holder and is more than capable of rolling along in front at the right speed under Purton. Eagle Way also operated well around the city track (2:1-1-0) and his form this season is impeccable. These are clearly the main chances to me and I’m not overly interested in the others.
