RACE 9
12 FOLLOW ME (rp – $1.70)
WIN (12 units)
FOLLOW ME looks extremely hard to beat in the ninth race today. He was solid enough running second last start and is drawn to get an ideal run this afternoon. He seems at his best when a race is run quickly, as evidenced by his win two starts ago, however even if the speed isn’t as strong here, he’ll still be positioned close enough to the front to be in touch and sprint clear late.

QUINELLA (0.5 unit)
I was very impressed with CHARITY GO when he made his Hong Kong debut and his effort last start didn’t reduce my opinion of him at all. He ran a super race from an impossible position given how slowly they went up front. With Purton aboard today I’d be surprised if he isn’t sitting in the first few horses in the running and from there I’m expecting him to be too good. ENRICHMENT will run well in a fresh state and FURORE rated highly enough when he debuted in Hong Kong to suggest he can run better than market expectation.
Result: 6th (-8 units)(-1 unit)(-0.5 units) -> (-9.5 units)
RACE 2
1 SAVVY SEVEN (rp – $3.80)
WIN (5 units)
7 DRAGON WARRIOR (rp – $9.00)
WIN (1.5 units)
SAVVY SEVEN is in good form and is capable of running very well in this Class 5 today. One of his best efforts came earlier in the season in an event (Race 95) that has produced four winners of decent quality. He was an eye-catcher then running a very good last-600m and dropping back to 1400m is a positive along with an inside draw and weight relief courtesy of Matthew Poon.
Result: 3rd (-5 units) + 6th (-1.5 units) -> (-6.5 units)

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.
Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.
Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.
Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.
So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!
Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.
Cheers
