R6 LANTAU PEAK HANDICAP

Sha Tin (M34) - Tuesday, 1 January 2019

summary

The most interesting runner in this line up is BIG PARTY who was highly impressive at his second career start when easily accounting for his rivals on the all-weather. However, that’s not to say he’s solely a dirt horse as his debut on the turf was sound and he might be able to dictate the pace from the front here today. His chances might hinge on how much pressure VIVA COUNCIL could apply. ALCARI maps well and based on his best figures he could contest the finish, although he has been well below his best at his last few. BUOYANT BOY continues to race well, but has only competed at Sha Tin once. He possesses a good turn of foot and he might be one the market underrates. HONEST WAY just didn’t get enough tempo last time and the negative tactics proved costly. His prior win and level is good enough for him to take this race with a repeat, but he generally gets back in the field and requires things to go his way – will he map closer this time though? SIR REDALOT is holding his form well and should be thereabouts but is well enough exposed to be looking elsewhere.

BIG PARTY can lead this race at a GOOD speed overall. VIVA COUNCIL will also contest for the lead. ALCARI and NOT USUAL TALENT should find good spots behind this pair from SHAMPORT.
