R4 JUPITER HANDICAP

-

Happy Valley (M32) - Wednesday, 26 December 2018

20:45 HK TIME

summary

SPECIAL STARS was highly impressive when winning on IJC (race 230) night for Irishman Colin Keane and considering the handicapper has left him in this grade, he looks well-placed to win again. He will probably be the shortest-priced favourite on the card and he appears to have plenty of upside. All that said, MIDNIGHT RATTLER was enormous when working hard through the early stages and holding on for second in that event, and meets Special Starts 3kg better this time, from a better draw. He could make the race more interesting than the market is saying early on. THOU SHALL SING just travelled too keenly last start over the course and distance (Tornado Twist and Monica have won from that race) and the pacifiers have been removed here. He is consistent and has been holding his form well. There is no need to go any further in this one. Special Stars will be very hard to beat; I can’t mark him shorter than $2.00 even though he might find another level. Midnight Rattler is worth a small each way play.

WIN & PLACE

speed

There looks like there’ll be a strong tempo overall here with MULTIMAX and LUCKY LUCKY the primary early pacesetters. THOU SHALL SING and MR RIGHT both have speed as well and can go forward. MIDNIGHT RATTLER is drawn well to track these runners.
