30 units Strategy

best outlay

RACE 7

5 BANK ON RED (rp – $2.80)

WIN (7.5 units)

BANK ON RED presents as the best of the evening and he was a touch unlucky not to win on IJC night. Moreira rides for Size and although a touch awkwardly drawn I believe he can find a good position in the running, get first run on a couple of main competitors and notch up his third Hong Kong win.

Result: 2nd (-7.5 units)

NEXT BEST OUTLAYS

RACE 5

4 JOLLY BOUNTIFUL (rp – $3.50)

WIN (4 units)

8 SHINING ON (rp – $7.00)

WIN (1.5 units)

There are two horses I’m interested in backing here at their respective prices, JOLLY BOUNTIFUL and SHINING ON. The latter doesn’t map overly well but has performance ratings that can have him competitive with any luck. Jolly Bountiful hasn’t had many favours with barrier draws his last two starts, but gets a better scenario tonight, therefore can settle closer in the running.

Result: 2nd (-4 units) + 8th (-1.5 units) -> (-5.5 units)

RACE 1

7 ASSOCIATION FANS (rp – $3.70)

WIN (3.5 units)

5 STARLIT KNIGHT (rp – $6.00)

WIN (1.5 units)

As a result of The Sylph being so short there are two horses in particular that can should be backed at their prices. ASSOCIATION FANS has good enough figures and maps ideally in an affair with not too much speed on paper. STARLIT KNIGHT doesn’t have too much early pace but can sit midfield and work into the finish as and when de Sousa wishes.

Result: 5th (-3.5 units) + 1st @ $8.00 best corporate (+10.5 units) -> (+7 units)

best each way

RACE 8

2 TURIN REDSTAR (rp – $3.20)

WIN (4 units) & PLACE (8 units)

He’s been a frustrating commodity in many respects TURIN REDSTAR but his three second-placings his last three starts have been very good and he’ll run well again. He has tactical speed, so as long as Leung doesn’t over do things he can go forward and find a good position in the running.

Result: 4th (-12 units)

Overall result for 30 units strategy

-18 UNITS  (60% LOSS)

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.

Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.

Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.

Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.

So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!

Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.

Cheers
