summary
This is not a very good race and that is being kind. That said I liked the run in defeat of GOBI STORM over the Valley mile last time when he went too hard and battled on fairly well. He drops back in trip, has the blinkers applied and should be there for a fair way. RUMBA DELAGO gets a drop in grade and clearly should have finished closer at his last outing in a better quality (and of course class) race. Me Tsui has a terrific record on this surface and his runners always warrant respect. ROCHFORD is another that handles the surface but he is still a Hong Kong maiden and might come up short enough with Moreira on board. Arguably the horse to beat is JIMSON THE FAMOUS but he needs to jump on terms, which will help his cause. He hasn’t been great from the barriers and might just be “that” sort of horse. However, he closed with a 22.84 final-400m on this surface last time, which is more than respectable for this grade of galloper and with even luck is clearly one of the leading chances for me. So whilst this isn’t a “sexy” event at all, there are a couple of runners worth small outlays at their prices.
