There’s not much pace in this event at all and it’s not easy to work out a leader. Added to this is the fact that there isn’t much between the ratings of a few and you have a tricky opening race. COME ON WONGCHOY makes a little more appeal than most on the back of a solid effort over the course and distance when finishing second, and has posted similar figures for his last two runs. Critically, he maps on pace and to receive a “cushy” run. The recent Happy Valley trial from the Jimmy Ting-trained DOCTORS DELIGHT was excellent and he might be one to keep safe on his seasonal return. However, whilst he is not easy to assess, the market is telling a story by having him early favourite. DASHING DART has a decent record in the grade and being second-up he will strip a fitter horse. Providing he doesn’t get too far out of his ground then he can figure in the finish, barrier 3 certainly aids his chances. GLORIAM and KWAICHUNG BROTHERS back-up from last week and both competed well in a race run at a solid tempo. The former could improve and should be peaking fitness-wise, while the latter is close to a win but the outside gate makes it difficult.
