R2 CAMERON HANDICAP

Sha Tin (M25) - Sunday, 2 December 2018

13:30 HK TIME

summary

There are a lot of sparingly raced gallopers competing in this contest, which makes it a little tricky. Race 145 included six of them, which help somewhat, and the winner there PERFECT MATCH looks reasonably well treated in the handicap (5 points or 2.5kg) for the win. He is a leading contender again, and maps to get every opportunity. Perfect Match defeated a wayward HAINAN STAR and the latter was a short-priced favourite. The addition of the cheek-pieces and tongue-tie are both positives for Hainan Star, along with the step up in trip – he can atone and win. SHINEALOT was quite impressive on his debut at Happy Valley in a steadily run affair and Sha Tin plus the 1400m are both major positives. He might be a touch underrated by the market and the early prices suggest that. WAH MAY PRINCESS comes through the Perfect Match form line and worked too hard on debut, so with a more patient approach can improve, that said the map suggests he might be able to roll forward and not work quite so hard compared to his debut. Hainan Star is the horse to beat and should position ideally during the race, with Shinealot representing a ‘speckable’ price as well.
