summary

This shapes as quite an even race on paper. KING OPIE maps nicely once again and if he takes a trail then he has to be a great chance to win again. He doesn’t really need to improve much to be a leading contender but he might be a tad over bet in the market and that is the case going off early prices. LUCKY GUY caught the eye when running into fourth position at Happy Valley (race 134) at his last outing. It’s interesting to note that his trainer Dennis Yip has elected to run him here instead of down in Class 4 where he is now eligible. I was anticipating that we might get a price about him but he is well found in the early markets. KASI FARASI was very game at his first local outing for Jimmy Ting and one would assume with natural improvement that he could run a big race. I have him mapped wide, but if he is ridden with a touch more patience, he might even win. VICTORY MACHINE remains in solid form and John Moore has elected to use the Victor Wong and his apprentice claim. He should be thereabouts again. At this stage there aren’t major advantages in my top-four over the market, however I expect that Lucky Guy and Kasi Farasi might be worth small win outlays.

BIG FORTUNE can lead this event and there might be a bit of competition to be the lead horse. VICTORY MACHINE has speed and an apprentice riding, SPEEDY KING can go forward and KASI FARASI might also be asked to press early. KING OPIE is drawn to trail the leader and RAGING BLITZKRIEG should be able to slot in behind the leaders in an optimal position.
