summary

GOOD STANDING presents as a good each way bet in the seventh event. He has been plagued with issues since arriving in Hong Kong but has now had two runs this preparation and should be fit and ready for the step up to 1600m now. He was given a wide trip last time and still managed to fight on strongly and comes in carrying a light weight in this extended ratings band Class 1. It is a very competitive race though containing plenty of talent so Douglas Whyte will need to be on his game from a good barrier of three. RISE HIGH moved well in a recent trial and he too was given a sub-standard ride last time. With Purton reuniting he can bounce back and I expect that he’ll be ridden more quietly early from stall 12 and be asked to work into the finish late. If the leaders go too fast Rise High will be one of the horses likely to be most advantaged. MORETHANLUCKY has the opportunity to be ridden positively and if he gets an easy time on-pace he can certainly be a factor late in the race. RATTAN, like Rise High can be expected to work home strongly and the 1600m looks ideal now at this stage of his preparation. All that said, the main play here will be outlaying on Good Standing each way.

speed

The pace should be GOOD here with ROMANTIC TOUCH the leader. MORETHANLUCKY can work forward to sit handy and GOOD STANDING is drawn to do the same. SIMPLY BRILLIANT can secure a soft run from stall 2. PRAWN BABA and JOLLY BANNER could inject more speed into the race if their respective connections want them ridden positively from awkward draws.
