43 units Strategy

best outlay

RACE 10

9 SUPERICH (rp – $2.00)

WIN (12 units)

9 with 11

QUINELLA (2 units)

SUPERICH was very unlucky not to win last start and I believe he should be able to bounce-back and get it done today. He’s drawn wide, but he should secure a midfield run with cover before being unleashed in the straight. LEAN PERFECTION is at a good price also and is worth taking in a quinella with Superich.

Result: 2nd (-12 units)+ 7th (-2 units) -> (-14 units)

NEXT BEST OUTLAY

RACE 5

4 FOLLOW ME (rp – $2.00)

WIN (8 units)

John Size’s FOLLOW ME looks ready to break through and win his first race. He was asked a bit much of last start, but still performed with credit to stick on in second position. Tye Angland will ride and from barrier 5 I expect he’ll be positioned ideally and get every chance in a race that lacks depth.

Result: 1st @ $2.50 best corporate (+12 units)

best each way

RACE 7

13 GOOD STANDING (rp – $3.30)

WIN (4 units) PLACE (8 units)

GOOD STANDING was very brave last start when he was able to hold second placing despite working very hard in the running. Whilst this is a competitive race, he’s drawn to get a far kinder trip and with a light weight presents at a backable each way price.

Result: 9th (-4 units)(-8 units) -> (-12 units)

next best each way

RACE 9

14 PAKISTAN FRIEND (rp – $3.50)

WIN (3 units) & PLACE (6 units)

The market might be put off a touch by the wide draw for PAKISTAN FRIEND, however I’m happy to say that he can overcome this with a positive ride and his tactical speed. There doesn’t appear to be an abundance of pace in this event and therefore Chad Schofield might be able to get into a race-winning spot shortly after the start.

Result: 2nd @ $7.50 & $2.60 best corporate (-2 units)(+6.4 units) -> (+4.4 units)

Overall result for 43 units strategy

-9.6 UNITS  (22% LOSS)

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.

Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.

Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.

Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.

So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!

Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.

Cheers
