This is quite an even race but the early favourite is the 10-year-old OCEAN ROAR for Jimmy Ting. The freshman trainer appears to have persevered with this galloper for the drop in grade that presents tonight. Ocean Roar is one from one in Class 5 and has some appeal with the move back to Happy Valley on the “C+3” course, but there are others that will be overs given this obvious plan. EXPONENTS and SHOW MISSION might be able to cause an upset. The former is holding his form well, maps nicely and is definitely capable. Show Mission seems most effective over this course and distance (3:1-2-0) and even though he can take a little time to get going early in his races, barrier 5 should mean he doesn’t settle far from the leaders. PADDINGTON is another that can win and his last run in defeat rated better than most others here. ACTUARIAT will get a soft run on the back of the speed, but he has proven a little weak at the business end of his races.
