summary
A low-grade affair kicks-off the card and early favourite THE JOY OF GIVING looks a deserved one. He has been runner-up at his last two starts in this grade and if he can hold his recent form, then he should be capable of notching his first Hong Kong win. He maps to get an ideal run just behind leaders on the rail, so de Sousa will just have to be awake to mid-race moves and getting the horse into the clear when he needs too. SMART BABY and AMAZING GOLD have the same form lines as The Joy Of Giving, with that trio being beaten by Clement Legend (race 127) who managed to back that up by winning again at Sha Tin following that (race 163). Amazing Gold should be able to secure a good run from his draw and the Jimmy Ting-trained horse should be suited dropping back to 1800m, the distance he won over when fresh-up this term. Of the others, MI BLANCO was quite good against the pattern/bias on the all-weather at his last outing and he should also be a touch fitter with this being his third run of the preparation. His main issue is the map and where he’s likely to settle in the running. That said, Mi Blanco is worth a small speck alongside a main outlay on The Joy Of Giving.
