MARVEL JOY presents as a very sound play in this race following a last start run where he got too far back from an awkward draw. Tonight the race he competes in appears to have plenty of speed in it and under Zac Purton he’s drawn to secure one of the runs of the race. Even though he’s yet to win in Hong Kong, Marvel Joy has run well enough to suggest he can break through here. POLYMER LUCK went too hard in the lead last time, but should be improved and runs well “second-up”. Added to his gear will be blinkers for the second time and the significant fact that Jimmy Ting-trained gallopers are improving and running better than they have before. BELLAGIO is another horse that has been in good form this season and should be ready to win. He races like the distance will suit, it’s just a case of how this decent-sized galloper navigates around the Valley. A 1200m trial there over a month ago suggested he would cope fine. LUCKY SHINY DAY was excellent when just missing victory in race 105. His main issue is his pattern of getting back in the running, but the expected speed should really suit him.
