In a where there doesn’t look to be a great deal of pace and pressure NEW ELEGANCE is drawn to be positioned in one of the prime spots during the running by Zac Purton. He’ll present a fitter horse than when he was fresh-up and his only Hong Kong success to date came when second-up. CHEERFUL GIGGLES returned with blood in the trachea last time (race 92) and his overall form level makes him competitive here. Both New Elegence and Cheerful Giggles were beaten by Willie Way last time and get 2.5kg on him for today’s assignment. If Willie Way can find a similar position to last time then maybe he could go back to back? IRISH VEGA is a horse “on the improve” and I like him back to Sha Tin and over 1800m today. His work has impressed me and I expect that he can run well even though the map might not suit him. HO HO FEEL is another Dennis Yip-trained horse in the race that might be underestimate. His win over 2000m rated highly enough for him to be a reasonable chance here, he’ll just need some luck from barrier 13. I’m happy to wager a couple here, with the main play being on New Elegance and a small play on Irish Vega.
