R7 THE SA SA LADIES’ PURSE HANDICAP (G3)

summary

The Sa Sa Ladies’ Purse is a sterling edition this year and boom galloper GLORIOUS FOREVER gets in nicely in this handicap affair. His last win rated highly and getting in with 51.5kg is going to make him very, very hard to beat. Of course, in reality, it often never works out like it does on paper, but he takes the need for a lot of luck out of the equation with his front-running racing pattern. His brother, TIME WARP, has the same style of running, but considering he carries 8kg more, that might take its toll. In addition the major question is, has he come back any where near the level which saw him brilliantly win the Hong Kong Cup last December and the Hong Kong Gold Cup in February? From what I’ve seen it’s a “no”. PAKISTAN STAR might be the big improver at his second run this campaign and he was probably a touch keen and fresh first-up. He will strip fitter and how much he has improved will be key. Once again, he concedes a lot of weight to Glorious Forever, which is a concern. EAGLE WAY caught the eye with a sustained run at his return this season and might be able to get into the finish. It does look all about GLORIOUS FOREVER though and what price to take for him to win?

speed

GLORIOUS FOREVER should lead here at a GOOD pace with brother TIME WARP working across to his outside. I’m not sure Purton will want to pressure his brother too much, but if he choose too then I expect Schofield on GLORIOUS FOREVER might be happy to hand up and track him. PRAWN BABA and HORSE OF FORTUNE can follow those two.
