summary

The drop in class is significant for SMART BABY, a lightly-raced galloper that performed well when sixth to Pakistan Friend at his last start. He steps up to 2200m and if he can produce the type of effort that he produced on that occasion, then he is going to take a lot of beating. Rookie trainer Jimmy Ting has won 13 races from 41 starters this season and it is a strike rate that is hard to ignore. AMAZING GOLD has been a winner for Ting first-up this season, although he has a little to find on how that victory rated. THE JOY OF GIVING is having his fourth run this season and has been in good form so far this preparation. He produced a race-best final-200m (12.25) over 1,800m last time and perhaps he will like the move up in trip. PEARL FURU also gets a drop in grade and considering he has proven form over this distance range, must be included.

speed

I don’t see there being an abundance of speed here with ROCKET GO and DAZZLE WINNER the most likely leaders. SMART BABY should secure a perfect trailing run and PEARL FURU could roll into a forward spot.
