R9 CORUM EXCELLENT HANDICAP

summary

This isn’t a straightforward Class 3 sprint with three Hong Kong debutants and a potentially a messy map. KING OPIE was given every chance when winning two starts ago and didn’t seem to cope with the Happy Valley experience last start. A return to the bigger track should suit him and he’s drawn to get the right trip. HANDSOME BO BO and PRANCE DRAGON were beaten by Superich in race 63 and I was impressed with how the latter horse hit the line even though he had an economical run. HELLO BEAUTY raced in Australia as Fullazaboot and ran an enormous race as a two-year-old in the Magic Millions 2yo on the Gold Coast. He’s looked good at the trials but it is “an ask” for a young 3yo first up at the top of Class 3 in Hong Kong. MIGHTY MAVERICK should be close to his peak and is in good form. He maps to get every opportunity to win again. No recommended plays here, but use my prices if you wish too.

HANDSOME BO BO can lead alongside FLYING BONUS. KING OPIE maps to get the perfect trip behind the leaders and MIGHTY MAVERICK should settle in a good spot on the rail.
