summary

The Premier Bowl of 2018 brings together a small but highly talented group of sprinters. IVICTORY is the deserved favourite given his excellent overall record and good resuming run over 1000m in the National Day Cup. Then he conceded 7.5kg to stable mate Hot King Prawn, who beat him home, but concedes 2.5kg less today. Importantly Ivictory will be improved and highlighted how well he is when winning a trial on the dirt over Hot King Prawn. There’s still not much of knock on the Prawn who could be hard to run down again if he gets the lead and a small breather on the circle. Karis Teetan has opted to ride MR STUNNING who Frankie Lor trains now. He ran second to Ivictory in the Chairman’s Sprint last term, but has moved very well in trials to prepare. WINNER’S WAY has upset potential especially if there is any sort of speed dual up front. The 1200m is a lot more suitable than the short trip and he’s a quick improver. Looking at the early market Hot King Prawn is the bet. I don’t suggest a large outlay here, as these horses aren’t near their grand final yet, but I won’t be deviating from John Size’s horses here.

HOT KING PRAWN can lead this race from JUMBO LUCK and potentially CALIFORNIA WHIP. IVICTORY is might be ridden just in behind these horses, or Purton could even elect to track Hot King Prawn across. PINGWU SPARK is the “unknown factor”, how he’s ridden will significantly influence the overall race pace.
