summary

The two runners that I think can control the speed; SICHUAN BOSS and GOLDEN KID might fight out this race. There is a slight preference for Golden Kid who probably has more improvement in his legs going in second-up and he also has an excellent record at the city course (4: 1-1-1). Sichuan Boss backed-up from a run 11 days ago where he simply went too hard on the lead for the young apprentice who rides him again. That is the question; whether he’s able to learn and potentially be allowed to control things to better suit his mount? CAPTAIN BOSS will be in the market for Zac Purton and perhaps leading never suited this galloper last start, although he did get a soft time and just plugged away. Nonetheless, going from Victor Wong to Zac Purton is a big upgrade. CHAPARRAL STAR was impressive on his first start for Caspar Fownes when winning a C5 event. The tempo was solid there and the performance rated well enough for the horse to go close to winning again even though he’s back up in grade. However, Chaparral Star might not get the pace to suit him this time although can might be able to settle closer from a decent gate and given the increased distance.

speed

SICHUAN BOSS and GOLDEN KID are two runners that can dictate a speed on the SLOW side of GOOD here. MONEY MARSHAL and WALDORF are drawn to be able to find positions just behind the two likely leaders.
