summary

There are some very moderate gallopers competing in this event. SPORTS MASTER is ready to win and he was sound in defeat behind Le Panache first up this preparation but I am concerned about the drop back to 1400m and the wide gate he jumps from. However, I see there being good speed in this race, which will help Zac Purton give Sports Master the right run and chance to win. GOLDEN CANNON maps well, comes from a decent rating race (22) won by Supreme Witness (who has been well-backed and beaten since) and he is generally quite consistent over this trip. In addition one would expect him to naturally improve having now had a run this season. SUPERIOR BOY might get the right run to win, but he is a 30-start maiden. EXPONENTS can run well second-up and back to 1400m, a trip he won over when sitting on outside of the leader during the running in June earlier this year. There’s no real standout here, the market reflects this, but I’m happy enough to say there are a couple of runners at good enough prices to outlay small units on to win.

speed

I think there’ll be more speed than expected by many here with EXPONENTS leading and some runners that are drawn wide being ridden forward like LUCKY STORM and ROCHFORD. GOLDEN CANNON looks to get a perfect trip behind these horses.
