summary

The best bet of the day presents here, SUPERICH, who was outstanding when winning at the end of last season after sitting three-wide without cover. He is going places and doesn’t need to get involved in any early pace-battle here from a middle draw. Zac Purton rides and I expect that he’ll position him in the ideal spot to strike when they straighten. The main danger to Superich is TEAM SPIRIT and interestingly they did face each other on debut last season (race 548) when Superich scored by two-lengths. They carried the same weight that day, so whilst each are still progressing, there is some case for Team Spirit who receives 4kg compared to the time they met. The value runner for exotics is SUMSTREETSOMEWHERE, who has the blinkers going on for the first time and he hit the line quite strongly first-up this season over 1000m. His two New Zealand wins were over 1200m and 1400m. ATTENTION should have a fitness edge on most of his key competitors, but the barrier draw hasn’t done him any favours. Quite where he’ll end up during the running will be a challenge for his rider Callum Murray.

speed

There’s enough on paper to suggest this event will be run at a genuine speed. DARING FIT can punch forward from barrier 2, with HANDSOME BO BO like to do the same even though drawn 14. TEAM SPIRIT has an awkward draw, but I expect will be asked to go forward. FEARLESS FIRE is drawn to trail DARING FIT, whilst ATTENTION could be well served if he is ridden positively from his wide alley in the hope he’ll get a little luck thereafter to find cover.
