There looks to be a reasonable play in this event (depending on the price as per of course), but with four newcomers in the race, it is not easy to be overly confident. That said, the recent barrier trial of ROMANTIC CHEF was excellent and suggested that he should be able to win a class 4 event in the short term. The fact Zac Purton is riding though might mean that he comes up shorter in the market than is ideal. Of the exposed runners, BUMBLE BABY clearly stands out, in particular his final start last preparation when second over the course and distance. So he has set a reasonable benchmark. Purton was also aboard LET’S COME BACK in a recent trial and his work has been encouraging, although he might have a little more to learn. STRATHALLAN has drawn the right side of the straight course and displayed nice improvement over his two career starts, but still needs to raise the bar a fair amount more to be a leading factor in my eyes.
