This is a complicated race on paper and adding to this is that it might be slowly run, therefore suiting those that map well “on-pace” like FRIENDS OF KA YING and THUNDER STOMP. The former is on the quick back-up following a game second to Circuit Number Two last Sunday and has been racing consistently well for some time. Friends Of Ka Ying has to be given solid claims again, although Thunder Stomp proved too strong for him when they last clashed (although Thunder Stomp is 3.5kg worse-off in comparison this time). NAMJONG PLUS is the marginal pick for me here, as he possesses an excellent turn-of-foot as displayed last season when he won at the course and distance posting a final-200m of 10.89 (fourth-best at the meeting). He also appears to have more upside than most of his main rivals. The issue for him is the map and whether he’ll be close enough to the front end when the sprint goes on. SUPER FORM has some excellent fresh form (5:2-1-0-2) and on those occasions when winning early in each of the last two seasons has looked very capable. These seem the main players in a race where the lack of pace makes it even more difficult to be too confident and there isn’t much of an advantage to be had going off the early markets.
