R6 CHUNG HOM KOK HANDICAP

summary

Tony Millard recently acquired one-time winner HARBOUR ALERT and based on the manner in which this limited galloper performed in a recent barrier trial, he might be the horse to beat here first-up. That said, his overall record has to be of some concern being 1/31 in Hong Kong. EAGLE arguably has fewer convictions than Harbour Alert and he was brave when finishing third to Buoyant Boy after making the running on a fast lead speed. He too has claims and appears an over off early prices. PHANTOM FALCON should press forward from a middle draw and for this pint-sized galloper, competing with a light weight is a bonus. In addition he will have a couple of minor gear changes that could enhance his chances. FAIRY TWINS has won two of three races fresh and two of his three career wins have come over this course and distance. They seem the main players here, although JUMBO HAPPINESS has come up the favourite with Zac Purton to ride. This galloper is zero from three first up and has always been better with a run under the belt. I suggest backing two runners here to beat the favourite, with Harbour Alert and Eagle looking early “overs”.

There might be a little bit of early competition for the lead here with PHANTOM FALCON, HARBOUR ALERT and EAGLE. FAIRY TWINS and MY ALLY could slot-in behind these horses and secure relatively economical runs.
