This is a low-grade race that isn’t straightforward to assess. VICTOR EMPEROR impressed me sufficiently in a recent trial and while he might be good enough to win, he has been plagued with problems and hasn’t competed since January. That has to be of some concern. On the flip side, Zac Purton has been a big part of this preparation, which is a positive lead that the horse will be ready to go early. MULTIMAX is an on-pace runner that has posted a number of performances good enough to win a typical C5 event like this. He’s worth a small outlay to win given the weight allowance he receives in this class. EXPONENTS started to hit form at the end of last season and if he has come back in similar fashion then he should be on the short list of winning chances. The drop in grade is also interesting for NATURAL FLARE, who definitely looks better than this class and might be some value. He hinted at having enough ability last season without being given much opportunity to reveal it.
