This is a competitive race to finish the card and the overall race tempo is a little questionable. STARLIGHT is the early favourite and he has come back to a mark in the handicap that he can win off. His recent runs have been okay and being drawn low will help his cause even though there isn’t much speed on paper. He possesses a great turn of foot (10.85 race-best final-200m last time) to overcome this though and Purton has won aboard him three times from nine rides. FANTASTIC FEELING is racing well, is probably close to his mark in saying that, but he can figure in the finish once again. Much the same can be said for HIGH FIVE and DOUBLE VALENTINE, with the latter horse winning well after receiving a perfect ride last time off a strong tempo. Last start winner BUOYANT BOY looks too big in the early market. He probably needs to find a length, but the drop in weight might help him reach the figure he needs to win here. Whilst he doesn’t have much “tactical” speed, he’s drawn ideally to get a soft run before it’s Poon’s job to get him into clear air to sprint!
